A little space for reflection

Three cards.
A new perspective.

The past you carry. The present you meet.
The possibilities ahead.

Hold a question in mind, or simply see what comes up. Draw three cards from the full tarot deck, then explore their meanings and the story they tell together.

Completely random card selectionHow the draw works

Chance, with nothing added

The cards are random.
The reflection is yours.

Every card has the same chance of appearing in each position. Your question, star sign, mood, previous readings and the time of day never influence the selection.

How is the draw kept unbiased?

The browser’s crypto.getRandomValues supplies cryptographically secure random values. Rejection sampling turns those values into equal-probability choices, without modulo bias. Three cards are sampled without replacement from all 78 cards.

If you enable reversals, each selected card gets an independent 50% chance of being upright or reversed. There is no weighting, personalisation, rerolling or filtering of difficult cards. Each new reading starts from the full deck; cards can repeat between readings.

All selection happens on your device. Secure randomness must be available; otherwise drawing is disabled instead of using a weaker fallback.

Where do the meanings and associations come from?

This page follows the past / present / future format of Salem Tarot’s three-card reading, with original interpretations written for Sea Serpent.

The deck is the historic Rider–Waite–Smith tarot, illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith. Meanings draw on its imagery and the tradition described in A. E. Waite’s The Pictorial Key to the Tarot. Astrological attributions for majors and numbered minors follow the Golden Dawn’s Book T.

Correspondences vary by tradition. Sign rulers are identified separately from a card’s direct planetary attribution. Aces and courts show their suit’s zodiac affinity, rather than an invented single sign or planet. Colours are a symbolic reading of the card’s artwork, not a formal Golden Dawn colour scale. Numbers refer to the printed card rank.

Public-domain deck scans are locally hosted, sourced from the TarotCards collection and its credited Steve-P.org collection.

How should I read the overall interpretation?

The interpretation connects the three cards’ themes in their spread positions, then considers repeated suits, elements and reversals. It uses the cards you actually drew and the same published rules every time.

Randomness applies to card selection. Meanings and correspondences are human interpretations. The future position offers a possibility to reflect on, rather than a fixed prediction. Take what helps you think clearly and make your own choices.
